- PSU Cybersecurity Program Plan and Cyber Hygiene Assessments
- This upcoming webinar will review the PSU Cybersecurity Program Plan, a customizable, documented strategy that consolidates existing PSU efforts and NCDPI K‑12 resources into practical people, process, and technology controls (including data management, audit logging, and vulnerability management). A complementary component for PSUs is the Cyber Hygiene Assessment (CHA) Program, which functions as the assessment arm. The CHA program uses the NC K‑12 CORE Safeguards and a limited technical health check to validate current hygiene, surface prioritized, action‑oriented gaps, and produce remediation guidance. Together, they form a continuous-improvement loop for PSUs where the Plan defines strategy and implementation templates, the CHA pinpoints and prioritizes what to fix, and repeated assessments measure progress and drive Plan updates. This webinar will walk PSUs through both resources and provide specific examples of how they can leverage these resources to achieve Strong Cyber Hygiene.

- NCEdCloud IAM Service Multifactor Requirement
- Starting July 1, 2026, all NCEdCloud IAM Service staff users statewide must use multi‑factor authentication (MFA). PSU users without an existing MFA setup will be prompted to configure it at login, and those already using MFA are unaffected. PSUs may enable MFA earlier at their own pace, per individual employee, by uploading a staff UID list, by school code (applies only to current staff), or for the entire PSU (applies to current and future staff). Users should use any TOTP‑capable authenticator. LEA/Admin/Help Desk roles can “Reset OTP” for users (LEA Admin TOTPs can only be reset by another LEA Admin), and employees can reset their own OTP from their profile after login. Updated user instructions are on the NCEdCloud Docs site below.
- K-12 Cybersecurity Ambassadors and Champions Initiative
- We’re excited to announce the official launch of the K-12 Cybersecurity Ambassadors & Champions Initiative! This initiative is primarily built to foster PSU-to-PSU collaboration, knowledge sharing, and peer support while providing consistent guidance and tools from the NCDPI Cybersecurity Program. While these different aspects are intended to work together as a means of generating a holistic cybersecurity culture, we’ve broken them down into separate categories for easier understanding: The Cybersecurity Ambassadors Network and Cybersecurity Champions Programs Resources.
